To All Members,

It is with great disappointment and sadness that I announce the "closure of our flying field midnight April 30 2024". We had hoped for at least another season or two but it was just not in the cards.

After hearing of this news on Friday, the Board reached out to Mario Cocchiarella, CEO of Maplewood Development Inc., the new property owner, to request an extension through the 2024 season. Here is his response:

“Gentlemen, Unfortunately, I can't help you with any further use of the property. With our growing land holdings has come very stringent restrictions on use by our Insurance provider. They simply will not allow any third party uses any longer. I thought that this was communicated to you previously, so there really should not have been anybody out there last year as well. I'm sorry I can't be more accommodating, but that is the way of the world these days.”

That being said, the Board has initiated discussions with Lucas Rodden, AMA - Club Services Representative whose function is to help us explore options for suitable flying sites. Although daunting, the Board intends to investigate any and all alternatives to maintain our club and membership camaraderie. As this could be a longer term solution, we recommend that all members consider alternative flying locations for the upcoming season.

We plan to hold a "farewell BBQ Saturday, April 27 with structure tear down Sunday April 28". Time and dates may change due to weather.

Members who have paid their annual dues for 2024 will receive a full refund. The Board will be reviewing the status of club assets and making a recommendation on how best to utilize these resources.

Finally, I ask all members to help us in our quest to find a new home. Please share any thoughts, ideas, and suggestions etc., to keep our group going.
